Nvidia has officially unveiled its new RTX Spark processor, and it may be one of the company’s biggest hardware launches in years.
Presented during Computex 2026, RTX Spark is not just another laptop chip. Nvidia describes it as the most efficient PC processor the company has ever built, combining CPU, GPU, AI acceleration, and unified memory into a single platform designed for the next generation of Windows laptops.
Nvidia Is Entering a New Market
For decades Nvidia has dominated the graphics card industry.
Now the company is taking direct aim at Apple, Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm by launching a complete computing platform for laptops and compact PCs.
RTX Spark is built around Nvidia’s latest Blackwell architecture and combines:
- Up to 20 CPU cores
- 6,144 GPU cores
- Up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory
- Advanced AI processing capabilities
- RTX graphics technologies including DLSS and ray tracing
Designed for the AI Era
The biggest focus is artificial intelligence.
Nvidia says RTX Spark can deliver up to 1 petaflop of AI performance, allowing users to run advanced AI models locally instead of relying entirely on cloud services.
According to Nvidia, future RTX Spark laptops will be capable of:
- Running large language models locally
- Generating AI videos
- AI-assisted software development
- Advanced content creation
- Personal AI agents operating directly on Windows devices
The company believes personal AI assistants will become a major part of future computing.
Gaming Performance Looks Impressive
Although AI is the headline feature, gamers have plenty to be excited about.
Nvidia claims RTX Spark can deliver graphics performance similar to an RTX 5070 laptop GPU while maintaining significantly better power efficiency.
The company says users can expect:
- AAA gaming at 1440p
- More than 100 FPS in modern titles
- Better battery life
- Slimmer and lighter gaming laptops
If those claims hold up in real-world testing, RTX Spark could become one of the biggest shifts in gaming laptops since Apple introduced its M-series chips.
Microsoft Is Already On Board
Microsoft has already revealed the first major device powered by RTX Spark.
The upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra will use Nvidia’s new platform and is being positioned as the most powerful Surface device ever created.
Other manufacturers expected to launch RTX Spark laptops include:
- MSI
- ASUS
- Dell
- HP
- Lenovo
- Acer
- Gigabyte
Why This Matters
For years, Windows laptops have struggled to match Apple’s combination of performance, battery life, and efficiency.
RTX Spark appears to be Nvidia’s answer.
By combining powerful AI hardware, RTX gaming capabilities, and Arm-based efficiency into one chip, Nvidia is trying to create a completely new category of AI-first laptops.
If the technology performs as promised, RTX Spark could become one of the most important PC launches of the decade.
The AI PC race is no longer just about software — it is now becoming a battle over who controls the future of computing itself.
